Sensual, violent, passionate dance bursting out of a nightclub

François Chaignaud, a graduate of Paris Dance Conservatory and Cecilia Bengolea, a student of anthropological dance and philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, have worked together since 2005. A steady dialogue between the two choreographers has given rise to a variety of works. Introduced at La Biennale de Lyon 2012, altered natives’ Say Yes To Another Excess – TWERK is a raving and energetic dance piece, as if a night at a club is taking place on stage. Five provocative dancers are spinning, rotating on their own as they all orbit in a wide circle, extending and retracting their arms from the elbow. It is the first time for the London DJs Elijah and Skilliam to play in a theater and collaborate with contemporary dancers with their fierce set of Grime music. While stimulating the senses and compelling audience to dance along, it is a high-culture piece with a sharp perspective on gender issues.
