「Mnemosyne」
MNEMOSYNE is an immersive work based on a classic Chinese play called The Peony Pavilion, combining 360-degree underwater puppet animation, 180-degree live-action filming and mixed-reality live performance.
Standing at the crossings of video and theatre, tradition and technology, this work provides the audience poetic and physical immersive-experiences.
With the themes of “gaze”, “memory”, “desire” and “death”, the audience will enter the dream world from the viewpoints of either Du Liniang or Liu Mengmei, and will create the paths of story by gazing, stopping, moving and other actions. Two lines of emotion finally meet in the performance at theatre, and the actors and the audience will complete the story together. Starting from the structure of “interactive polyphony”, the work examines how the perception and emotion of the audience may engage interactively with a piece of work.
