Becoming Gompangyi explores a new way of sensing the city through a site-specific performance in which humans move like fungal mycelium, spreading organically through the streets of Kyoto. Participants set movement rules based on the ecological behavior and sensitivities of mold, translating the city through the perspective of non-human beings. The collected sounds converge at the center, creating an experiment in multispecies sensory communication.
