For a traveler, an unfamiliar city is often experienced along the efficient routes suggested by navigation, but for a fungus, the city is likely a vast, organic network of nutrients, humidity, temperature, and texture. This performance is an attempt to pause such human-centric senses and translate the space of Kyoto from a non-human perspective through ‘thinking like a fungus.’

Eight performers, visiting this city for the first time, explore the streets by becoming spores and mycelia, following movement rules (a score) based on the ecological behaviors of fungi. In this process, the scene each performer captures become a point where different senses of life meet, experimenting with a new communication that crosses the boundaries between human and multispecies.
