Houzouji x Contemporary art – A space of installation works with the theme of the reflections on life and death –
At Houzouji, a temple which houses Ito Jakuchu’s Skull Figure, creation through research and presentation of the works mainly by students of art universities will take place. The works of ten students will change the temple to an exhibition space.
A temple known for its relation to the Japanese painter Ito Jakuchu. In the annual exhibition of temple treasures, Ito Jakuchu’s hanging scrolls and other works can be seen.
This project, initiated by the students of Kyoto City University of Arts and based at Houzouji, is to deepen our reflections on life and death though dialogues. The output of the project will be open to public through a form of exhibition and aims to create wider exchanges and dialogues.
