Narcisse and Echo
Currently, I am examining different methods of creating self portraits. I wish to feel and understand my own outline, and the boundary between myself and other existences. As a part of this process, I use mirrors to become aware of my Self.
By tracing the fluctuations of my outline in the mirror and capturing them with the pen in my right hand, lines start to fill the mirror, and the figure of “myself” gradually distances itself from me.
Moreover, the lines of “myself” reflect the scenery it faces, as they are fixed on the surface of the mirror.
The self fades and reflects myriad things; this process feels like an answer to my self exploration.
Drawing from the Greek mythology of Narcissus and Echo, I will once again peer into the outline of myself.
