Yuukai Kenchiku
The 7th Multi-Dimensional Concert : Music × Dance × Calligraphy
Yuukai Mokuzou Kenchiku (melting wooden architecture) explores acoustic expression through the flute and piano. They are a subunit from Yuukai Kenchiku (melting architecture), a multi-dimensional rock band that shares music from Kyoto with the world. Mayu Shirai is a dancer and choreographer who studied modern dance in New York. She is also interested in the social impact that dance can have, such as local community outreach. Shogo Fukuda is a calligrapher who explores his own unique method of shading. His work ranges from traditional calligraphy to contemporary art using self-made ink to commercial design calligraphy for stores and products. The three artists use completely different mediums. In this piece, they synthesize their inspirations and climb the spiral staircase of creativity. This once-in-a-lifetime performance will be held at a historic temple founded in the Kanbun era.
