Sasaki Shunichi × melomys × SMILE

My name is Shunichi Sasaki. I have been a stage actor for about 15 years, from when I started performing in student theater groups. I formed a theater company called “Doryoku Club” with Gouda Danchi. Last year, I was invited by Theater Tacogura in Kochi and I had the opportunity to create the work “Totanyane” with Zan Yamashita. I planned this event because I wanted to present the work in Kyoto, especially at UrBANGUILD. The creation process took place at Zan’s atelier, as well as at bars which were closed in the evening as part of the quasi-emergency coronavirus measures. We were unsure about doing the work just the two of us, so we invited melomys and SMILE, two groups formed after 2020 that I felt I wanted to see more of. It will be a nighttime encounter between three solo performances transcending the boundaries between dance and theater.
