Les Hommes du Désert : Built on Sand, ver.Fortinite
This work is a spin-off from the exhibition Les Hommes du Désert, which was held in March 2024. It consists of a game that’s playable within the metaverse world of Fortnite, and which can be played here in a booth. The work started from the thought that, since olden times, cows have been depicted as gods in the mythologies of various civilizations, which suggests that the world—which now appears so divided—was once united by shared beliefs. As a team, two players become a phoenix and look for cows that appear in a desert. One player can see in all directions, while the other only has a bird’s-eye view, so they need to collaborate in order to succeed. By seeing the same world from different angles, they experience, through roleplay, differences in perspective and the disadvantages of facing restrictions, in a way that wouldn’t be possible with an artwork in a real space. Come and experience the work’s world as though you were acting in a play.
