For this project, we are looking to stage a performance with people born on the same day as the artist: January 25, 1997. Through this performance by people who have one firm thing in common—their birthday—but are otherwise absolutely distinct from each other, we aim to display the a priori similarities and differences found among humans and bring about accidental solidarities. People with the same birthday are a community. Perhaps this is where we find the most ideal kind of diversity. We advocate multiculturalism while closing ourselves off—but what if we are already part of a group in which the appropriate distances between people are maintained? It’s hardly possible to meet all of humanity, but might 200,000 be conceivable?
