Talk with Photographer Lieko Shiga

Photographer Lieko Shiga spent more than two years in the Tohoku region working on the videos for the project Bipolar that is presented at this year’s festival. She shares her creative process before the performances on October 8th (Sat) and 9th (Sun) at Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza. This is Shiga’s first time creating full-scale videos for a stage performance. In anticipation of her collaboration with musicians, we ask her about various production concepts she developed through trial-and-error during the 11-year reconstruction period that followed the Tohoku earthquake. Critic and artist Mariko Takeuchi, a professor at Kyoto University of the Arts, will serve as moderator. Experience Shiga’s video world in her own words: the perfect lead-in to the performance.
