The performance begins at Sanjo-Kawaramachi and moves along various locations on the Kamo-gawa River, concluding at Shijo-Kawaramachi.
On performances on certain days, cancelled in case of rain.

As the title shows, Firefly@kamo-river Kyoto is a dance piece with an ambient atmosphere involving illuminations along Kamo River. The lit-up short dance performances will happen at various places in the riverbank between Sanjo and Shijo.
Each performance will be part of the scenery and night view along Kamo River and the projects is aimed at inviting the general public to enjoy contemporary dance.
As we wish that the water of Kamo River will remain clean so that fireflies can live in, we will dance to look for the place of contemporary dance in the very present tense.

Performing “Kamogawa Firefly” is contemporary dance artist Nobuo Kanaya. Kanaya served as the director, choreographer, and dancer for “op.eklekt,” which graced the dance scenes of Kyoto, Tokyo, and abroad from the 1990s through the 2010s. Kanaya created this piece out of a wish to merge into the scenery of Kyoto’s Kamo River, where he was born and raised. Please sit back and enjoy the performance.
