Began playing marimba at age 11. After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, won 3rd place and the Best Performance Award for prescribed new works at the 5th Australian Marimba Competition in Melbourne in August 2018. Since around 2019, based on improvisation as a primary medium, the artist has presented projects emphasizing chance and interaction, including the “Marimba Nerineri” series strolling through streets with a marimba. Recent major projects include Marimba-san’s Relocation (Sumida River Arts and Culture Project FY2021).
