Theater performance of new work by Keitaro Kamo, a theatre director who lives in Fukuoka.
In recent years, with “the redevelopment of theatre” as his theme, Kamo has been cultivating and exploring the possibility of a simple and primitive form of theatre, which intentionally rejects all the methods of theatre that have been developed thus far, meaning eye-catching scenography, strong theatricality, sound, lights and other effects to further the immersed experience of the audience.
In this new piece, he is introducing a new method to de-construct the “acting” by separating each of the performers’ actions from how it is intended to “look like”. With the four performers who have joined though an open call, the fiction is being built based on facts and the temporality is provided to the collective presence that contains time, space and maybe the audience. This is the very experience of how theatre is taking place, or the practice of the very act of theatre itself.
