My term as chair of the executive committee of Kyoto Experiment has now come to an end. The almost eight years since taking over from Kojin Ota have flown by quickly. In that time, I was very happy to see Kyoto Experiment grow into a festival with a strong following among arts and culture fans, and reach the milestone of its tenth edition in 2019.
From this edition, the leadership of the festival has switched to a new system. It seems a pity to leave at such a juncture, but I have become increasingly busy with other matters these past few years and do not feel able to continue in my duties as chair. A major turning point in this regard was the closing party for Kyoto Experiment 2019, when a pressing obligation on the day prevented me from attending and meant I could not convey my gratitude and joy directly to the artists and staff at that significant moment marking the end of the tenth festival.
Though I will no longer be chair of the executive committee, my expectations and affection for Kyoto Experiment remain undiminished. I would like to take this opportunity once again to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who has assisted the festival over the previous eight years. I hope you will continue to give Kyoto Experiment your support.
